MILWAUKEE SONGWRITERS COURSE: April 28th-May 19th
FOUR MONDAY NIGHT SESSIONS FROM 7:30-9pm
Introduction
My name is Dan Collins- I'm a musician from Madison, via La Crosse, now Chicago, and soon Wauwatosa on a marriage-related hiatus. You can learn about me here. I'm currently enrolling a very limited number of students in a 4-part songwriting workshop in the Milwaukee-area. These sessions will take place at Sound Check Studios in West Allis (map below).
Overview
In completing this course, students will possess a strong foundation for writing songs. We will cover topics including but not limited to: lyric writing, song analysis, form, style, performance, and demo production. The end product will be, minimally, one high quality recording of an original song. Students will have the option to submit this song to the John Lennon Songwriting Contest with my assistance. Digital distribution resources (iTunes et al) will also be made available.
Requirements for Registration
- High school-age and older.
- Basic facility on one of the following instruments: guitar, keyboard, bass, ukulele, accordion, banjo, mandolin, or any other polyphonic instrument. Keyboard(s) will be provided, all other instruments must be brought to class.
- Willingness or ability to sing.
- Availability to attend all four sessions.
